IPMAT from the UAE: IIM Indore, IIM Rohtak and JIPMAT compared
In short
In 2026 IIM Indore and IIM Rohtak tested only in Indian cities, JIPMAT listed Dubai, and no 2027 notice is out for any of them.
- IIM Indore’s 2026 score counted the test at 65 and the interview at 35.
- IIM Rohtak asked for 60% in Class 10 and 12, and age 20 or under.
- Foreign passport holders skipped IIM Indore’s test, needing an SAT score of 1300 or more.

IPMAT is the usual name for the aptitude tests that admit Class 12 students to the Five-Year Integrated Programme in Management (IPM) at IIM Indore and IIM Rohtak. Each IIM sets its own paper. JIPMAT, run by the National Testing Agency (NTA), does the same job for IIM Bodh Gaya and IIM Jammu. In the 2026 cycle, IIM Indore and IIM Rohtak tested only in Indian cities, while JIPMAT listed Dubai among seven cities abroad.
None of the three has published a 2027 notice: on 6 November 2026, IIM Indore's announcements page, IIM Rohtak's IPM admission page and NTA's JIPMAT page all still showed the 2026 cycle. Everything below is from 2026, a guide to the shape of the year rather than next year's dates. IIM Indore announced its 2026 test date on 8 October 2025, so start watching from October.

IIM Indore: three timed sections, and an SAT route
IIM Indore's three sections of 40 minutes each come in a fixed order, so time cannot be moved between them. Its 2026 documents give the sections, timing and marking but not the number of questions, so treat any figure quoted elsewhere with care.
To be shortlisted, a candidate needs a positive raw score and the minimum mark in every section. The aptitude score then weights the two quantitative sections at 25 each and verbal ability at 50, after normalising each section. So half the test score is verbal. The final composite is the test at 65 and the personal interview at 35.
Eligibility is wide: the 2026-31 procedure states no minimum Class 10 or Class 12 percentage, and IGCSE and IB students may apply (IB students must produce The IB Indian Percentage Transcript). There were 150 domestic seats.
For UAE families the key line is who counts as international: only foreign passport holders. An Indian passport holder living in Dubai is a domestic applicant and sits IPM AT in one of the 39 Indian cities. Foreign passport holders skip IPM AT: under the international admission procedure they needed an SAT score of at least 1300 out of 1600, taken between 1 November 2024 and 15 May 2026, a fee of Rs 8,850 and an application by 20 May 2026. Their composite is SAT 65 and interview 35, for 5 supernumerary seats. Families with an OCI card should confirm with IIM Indore which route applies to them.
IIM Rohtak: school marks and age count
IIM Rohtak's paper is 120 multiple-choice questions in 120 minutes: 40 each of quantitative ability, logical reasoning and verbal ability, with no sectional cut-off. Unlike Indore, it has a logical reasoning section and no short-answer section. Candidates who also choose IIM Rohtak's Integrated Programme in Law sit an extra Legal Reasoning section of 20 questions in 20 minutes. For the National Law Universities themselves, see our CLAT 2027 guide for UAE students.
In 2026 Rohtak asked for at least 60% in both Class 10 and Class 12, worked out on the best five subjects, and a maximum age of 20 on 30 June 2026. School marks also feed the final score: Class 10 counts for 10 and Class 12 for 20, so 30 of the 100 points come from board results, with the test at 55 and the interview at 15.
The FAQs say international students follow the same procedure as domestic ones and must sit IPM AT, so there is no SAT route here. Rohtak had 198 seats.
JIPMAT: the one that listed Dubai
JIPMAT's quantitative section covers concepts up to Class 10 mathematics. The bulletin states no minimum percentage and no age limit, but says IIM Bodh Gaya and IIM Jammu may have different requirements, so check IIM Bodh Gaya's IPM page and IIM Jammu's admission policy. OCI candidates registered before 4 March 2021 are considered for Indian-national seats, in the General category only.
The bulletin's list of exam cities outside India has seven entries: Dhaka, Kuala Lumpur, Kathmandu, Singapore, Colombo, Dubai (city code ZZ06) and Hanoi. Candidates choose up to four cities, limited to the state of their permanent or present address, and the bulletin applies the address rule to candidates abroad too. NTA may merge cities or allot another one.
The catch is in the result press release. It says JIPMAT 2026 ran in 81 centres in 61 cities, including just one city outside India, and does not name it. A Dubai listing in the bulletin is therefore not a promise of a Dubai centre.
Planning from Dubai or Sharjah
In 2026 the three tests fell within five weeks: 4 May, 10 May and 7 June. Indore and Rohtak tested only in India, so a student taking both needed to travel for two tests six days apart.
A student in Class 12 now is aiming at the 2027 tests, and a student in Class 11 at 2028; neither year's dates are published. Settle three things early: which IIM Indore route your child's passport puts them on, whether the Class 10 result already in hand meets the 60% Rohtak asked for in 2026, and a plan that builds verbal ability alongside mathematics, since Indore gave it half the test score.

Frequently asked questions
What is IPMAT?
IPMAT is the usual name for the tests that admit Class 12 students to the five-year Integrated Programme in Management at IIM Indore and IIM Rohtak, each setting its own paper. JIPMAT, run by NTA, does the same for IIM Bodh Gaya and IIM Jammu.
Can I take IPMAT in Dubai?
In 2026, IIM Indore's 39 test cities and IIM Rohtak's 33 were all in India. JIPMAT 2026 listed Dubai among seven cities outside India, but only one overseas city actually ran and NTA did not name it. Check the current notice before booking travel.
When is IPMAT 2027?
No IPM AT 2027 or JIPMAT 2027 notice was out on 6 November 2026. In 2026 IIM Indore tested on 4 May and IIM Rohtak on 10 May, and IIM Indore announced its 2026 date on 8 October 2025.
Is there a minimum percentage for IPMAT?
IIM Indore's 2026-31 procedure states no minimum Class 10 or Class 12 percentage. IIM Rohtak asked for 60% in both Class 10 and Class 12 on the best five subjects (55% for SC, ST and DAP). The JIPMAT bulletin states none, but IIM Bodh Gaya and IIM Jammu may set their own.
What is the age limit for IPMAT?
For 2026 IIM Indore required a birth date on or after 1 August 2006 (1 August 2001 for SC, ST and PwD). IIM Rohtak set a maximum age of 20 on 30 June 2026 (25 for SC and ST). The JIPMAT bulletin states no age limit.
How do foreign passport holders apply to IIM Indore's IPM?
They do not sit IPM AT. In 2026 they needed an SAT score of at least 1300 out of 1600, and were ranked on SAT 65 and interview 35 for 5 supernumerary seats. Indian passport holders living in the UAE apply as domestic candidates.
Career Launcher UAE prepares students for IPMAT at our centres in Bur Dubai and Al Nahda 2 in Dubai and Al Qasimia in Sharjah, and in online classes, with mock tests set by our UAE team. You can read more on our IPMAT coaching in Dubai and Sharjah page.
