38 questions, all compulsory, in five sections: 18 multiple choice and 2 assertion-reason questions of 1 mark, 5 of 2 marks, 6 of 3 marks, 4 of 5 marks and 3 case studies of 4 marks.
Internal choice in two questions each of Sections B, C and D, and in one part of two case studies. Calculators are not allowed.
The 2027 board exam in Applied Mathematics is on Tuesday 9 March 2027, the same day as Mathematics, from 10:30 am India time (9 am in the UAE).
HOW LESSONS WORK
Start from the chapter. Build to the board paper.
A first look at where the marks go. The student’s recent school tests and the units done so far show which chapters lose marks and which question types do.
Chapter by chapter with the school. Lessons follow the NCERT books and the CBSE units in the order the school teaches them, so tuition supports class rather than racing ahead of it.
Board-style answers. Practice uses CBSE’s own sample papers and marking schemes, so students learn how marks are given for each kind of question.
Revision before the board exam. Timed papers and a review of each one in the months before the exam, with the project kept on schedule alongside.

What is the difference between Mathematics (041) and Applied Mathematics (241)?
CBSE describes Mathematics (041) as the course for pure mathematics, the physical sciences and engineering, and Applied Mathematics (241) for students who need mathematics in areas such as business, economics, finance and the life sciences. Check what the universities and courses on the list ask for before choosing.
Can a student take both Mathematics and Applied Mathematics?
No. CBSE’s scheme of studies allows one or the other, and its FAQ says one is not a substitute for the other.
Can a student who took Basic Mathematics in Class 10 take Applied Mathematics?
Yes. CBSE’s 2020 circular introducing Applied Mathematics says students who passed Mathematics Basic in Class 10 may take Applied Mathematics but not Mathematics (041). Confirm the current rule with the school, as the Class 10 scheme is changing.
When is the 2027 CBSE board exam in Applied Mathematics?
Tuesday 9 March 2027, from 10:30 am to 1:30 pm India time, which is 9 am to 12 noon in the UAE, on CBSE’s date sheet of 6 November 2026.
