HOW TO READ THE LIST

Four things to know first.

How SPEA rates schools

SPEA’s ITQAN programme reviews private schools against the UAE School Inspection Framework and rates them on six levels, from Outstanding to Very weak. Its fourth cycle, for 2025-26, was announced on 1 July 2026, and every rated school in Sharjah is now Acceptable or better. A school is not reviewed every year, so each rating here carries the year of its review.

The boards come from SPEA’s own reports

SPEA’s directory gives the curriculum, not the exam board, but each review report names the boards. Of the 15 schools here with a report, 14 name Cambridge, 11 Pearson Edexcel and 4 AQA or OxfordAQA, most of them more than one. 5 have no report on SPEA’s site yet.

How the boards differ

Changing curriculum from Year 10

SPEA says a student can change curriculum up to Grade 9 without an equivalency certificate. From Grade 10 to Grade 12, moving to a school with a different curriculum needs an equivalency certificate from the UAE Ministry of Education, so plan a move to a British school before the IGCSE years.

Switching curricula

What is not here

7 more of SPEA’s British-curriculum schools stop before Year 11; they are listed at the end. All but one of the 27 are in Sharjah city; one is in Kalba. We give no fees: SPEA approves every school’s fees, and its directory filters by them.

Can my child move to a British school in Sharjah in Year 10 or 11?

It needs planning. SPEA says that from Grade 10 to Grade 12 a change of curriculum needs an equivalency certificate from the UAE Ministry of Education; up to Grade 9 none is needed. Ask the new school early, since IGCSE courses start in Year 10.
